Web site? Web Hosting? Why?

by Ricardo d Argence

I recently developed an annoying tic that makes my right eye to blink uncontrollably, stiffening my hands and causing me to sweat profusely. It usually occurs when I hear a business owner "website? For what? I really do not need this kind of thing."

These words are enough to trigger the twitch, followed by a barely contained need to break something so many times (has not happened yet, but I am close).

Why a company wants a web site? I think the question is far too obvious today, but since my twitch keeps reappearing I think I will give at least the basis points.

Keep in mind, although these are very simple, they are not without importance:

Presence

In the main, the most fundamental and yet most valuable. You MUST have a website (of course you'll need a web hosting and a domain account). Do you want to open a business without a telephone line? Get real! With a website your customers find you, check your details, a review of your products and services and a long etcetera.

Attracting new customers

When a new prospect visits your website, he / she has the opportunity to know about your organization before anyone talks to him / her. What's better than a new customer who already knows your business and took over the phone or send an e-mail to contact you? The sale is closed halfway!

Your Customer Service

Do you have a new product or service? Tell your clients about the palm of your website. Changes in prices? Post them in your site. New manuals, updates, new address? They must be in your website! Did you just a new telephone line? Get a big announcement in your home!

Describe in detail

If your products or services or require a detailed technical explanation, your website is the best tool. You can post as much information as needed, PDF files, pictures, books and anything else you can think of. As you have more info, you can download it and your customers will be able to find instantly.

Updating

We have already mentioned, but this should be developed. Whenever something changes in your organization, you can tell all your customers through your website. Products, prices, service policies, press releases, nothing! Did you change your logo? Whether your web site show. Give your site a quick check at least once a year (every 6 months is better) and make the necessary changes. Allow your customers to notice you are still there.

Show Off

Yes, your website allows you to show the kind of work you have done for other clients. Request for testimonials and to include them in your website. The love of these prospects, because it gives credibility to your business (we will talk about the best way to send your testimony in another column).

Shame on You

Finally, if all these have not been able to convince you, think that a website is really cheap (most Web hosting services at a cost less than $ 100 per year) . Do you want to do business with someone who can not pay at least that? I think twice.
